You can use it as a basic guide. Find out the existing rings diameter(within the middle), only count millimeters that are within the ring.

• Different jewelry companies can measure their rings differently. It isn’t standard to measure it for the inside of the ring, however some jewelers will measure the side edge of the ring instead. 

• But, you may probably discover that your favourite ring company measures the diameter of a ring as opposed to the circumference. Or the fact it’s measured in inches rather than millimeters!

You also have to work out a different scale depending where the rings are being sold. Ring sizes by alphabet letter, while in the U.S. and Canada we use numbers. Isn't it a little weird to see such a thing as ring size A ½?

Tips for Choosing the Right Ring Size

If Between Sizes

If you are in between sizes (length wise), it’s better to choose the up size. You don’t want your ring to fall off but it will allow for your fingers to swell. If it’s a little too big, ask the company if they can help you resize your ring.

Quarter Sizes

Now you know a tiny bit about what ring sizes are, it’s time to measure. Use one of these methods to measure your ring size, and stay at home.

The String Method

But did you learn to crochet and end up with a pile of unused yarn that’s too huge to use up? So, why not use your ring as a means of measuring your ring size?

It will also work with any other piece of string! Remember that if the string or yarn is made out of something stretchy, you could measure the wrong length!

To simply wrap your string or floss around your finger and cut right at where they overlap. I then lay the string up against a ruler, then bam. You have the circumference of your soon to be finger adorned finger. Check the chart below to find out which size ring you want.

Printable Paper Ring Sizer

Paper ring sizers are cool. They are printable paper rings, with the ring size pre printed for you to just wrap around and know your ring size immediately.

Normally they’ll have something that they use to stabilize the paper as they’ll wrap them around your finger.  This is a good ring sizer to use.

Can All Rings Be Resized?

However, as with any jewelry, note that if you have a lot of gemstones or diamonds in your ring design, it may be impossible to resize a ring. That can damage the settings and ruin your bling. This means, you always go to a trusted source.

If you've got a ring that is just a tad too big for your tastes, very often there will be bands available for your rings that will adjust the fit just so. Normally these little fellas are made of plastic and wrap around the base part of your band. Until they feel comfortable on your ring finger, all you can add are as many as you want.
