Personalized Jewelry Manufacturer & Wholesaler for US Brands

Personalized Jewelry Manufacturer & Wholesaler for US Brands

Personalized Jewelry Manufacturers, Suppliers & Wholesalers for US Brands

If you sell name necklaces on Etsy, run a boutique in Texas, or you're launching a jewelry brand from your spare bedroom, you already know the hard part isn't the idea. It's finding a manufacturer who can put a customer's name, date, or logo on a piece, get the spelling right every time, and ship it before the customer starts asking where their order is.

That's the work we do at Maroth Jewels. Since 2010, we've been manufacturing personalized, custom and private label jewelry for designers, retailers and online sellers and a large share of that work goes to businesses across the United States.

This guide covers what personalized jewelry actually involves at the manufacturing level: which metals to choose, how engraving and nameplates are made, what drives wholesale pricing, and what to check before you trust any supplier with your brand.

What Is Personalized Jewelry?

Personalized jewelry is jewelry made or modified for a specific person or brand, usually by adding a name, initial, date, message, birthstone, photo, or logo. It sits between mass-produced stock jewelry and fully bespoke one-off pieces. The base design is usually set, and the personal detail changes for every order.

A classic example is a name necklace. Every piece shares the same chain, font style, and finish, but "Olivia" and "Sophia" are cut as separate pieces. For a manufacturer, that means every single item is technically unique, which is why personalized jewelry needs a different workflow than regular wholesale.

Who We Make Personalized Jewelry For?

Most of our US clients fall into one of these groups:

  • Etsy, Shopify, and Amazon sellers who need name and initial jewelry produced reliably, often to order.

  • Independent boutiques and gift shops that want a personalized line without running engraving equipment in-house.

  • Emerging jewelry brands that need private label manufacturing, their own designs, and their own branding, with none of ours.

  • Established designers who have outgrown their bench and need production capacity.

  • Corporate, team, and event buyers ordering logo pendants, engraved rings, or commemorative pieces in bulk.

How Personalization Is Actually Done?

Laser engraving is the workhorse of personalized jewelry. It's precise, fast, and handles fine fonts, logos, and even handwriting. It works on gold, silver, and it's the best choice for ring inner bands and flat pendant faces.

Cutout nameplates are what most people picture when they think of a name necklace. The name itself becomes the pendant, cut from sheet metal or cast from a CAD model. Font choice matters a lot here, because very thin script letters can bend if the metal is too light.

Casting from CAD is used for dimensional pieces like signet rings, raised initials, and logo pendants. We model the design digitally, print it, cast it in metal, then hand-finish it. It takes longer, but the result feels solid and premium.

Stone setting adds diamonds or gemstones, usually as a birthstone accent or pavé across an initial. Pavé means many small stones set close together so the surface sparkles evenly.

Photo and handwriting engraving turns a customer's photo or a loved one's handwritten note into a permanent engraving. It's one of the strongest-selling memorial and sentimental categories, and it needs a clean, high-resolution source image to work well.

How the Manufacturing Process Works?

  1. Share your brief: Send a sketch, reference photos, a competitor piece you like, or simply a description. You don't need finished designs, since our design team can develop them with you.

  2. CAD design and quote: We turn your idea into a 3D model and send a quote based on metal, size, stone count, and quantity.

  3. Sampling: We make a physical sample so you can check weight, finish, font clarity, and chain length in hand. Sample time is 3-4 weeks.

  4. Approval and production: Once you approve the sample, we move to production. Every step from casting to polishing, setting, plating, and engraving happens in-house.

  5. Quality control: Each personalized piece is checked for spelling, stone security, plating coverage, and clasp function before packing. On personalized orders, a single wrong letter is a return, so we check the text against your order file.

  6. Packaging and shipping: We can pack in your branded boxes, pouches, and cards for private label orders, then ship to your US address. Typical production time is [3–4 weeks], depending on order size.

What Does Personalized Jewelry Cost Wholesale?

  • Metal: solid 14K gold costs many times more than sterling silver or plated brass.

  • Weight and size: a thick double-plated name necklace uses far more metal than a dainty single plate.

  • Stones: pavé settings add both stone cost and setting labor.

  • Complexity: photo engraving, custom fonts, and CAD-cast logos take more time than simple laser text.

  • Quantity: unit prices drop as order volume rises, especially once the tooling and CAD work are done.

How to Choose a Personalized Jewelry Manufacturer: A US Buyer's Checklist?

1. Ask for a paid sample first: Photos can hide a lot. A sample shows you plating quality, font sharpness, and how the piece actually feels.

2. Confirm the metal claims in writing: Ask exactly what "gold-plated" means: what base metal, and what plating thickness?.

3. Know the US labeling rules: The FTC Jewelry Guides control how you can describe metals when you sell in the US. For example, "vermeil" requires sterling silver coated with at least 10K gold at a minimum thickness of 2.5 microns. Under the National Gold and Silver Stamping Act, a quality mark like "14K" or "925" stamped on a piece must be accompanied by a registered trademark. Your manufacturer should know these rules.

4. Ask about nickel and lead: Nickel is a common skin allergen, so many US brands market nickel-free pieces. Lead is restricted in jewelry under California law, and children's jewelry must meet federal CPSIA lead limits. If you sell kids' pieces, ask for test reports.

5. Protect your designs: Sign an NDA before sharing original designs, and confirm your designs won't appear in the supplier's catalog. Avoid any supplier selling "designer replica" pieces, because counterfeit goods can be seized by US Customs and expose you to legal risk.

6. Test their accuracy on personalized orders: Ask how they process name files and check spelling. A supplier that handles thousands of names needs a real system, not just good intentions.

7. Check duties and landed cost: Imported jewelry carries US import duties, and trade rules have changed frequently. Ask your customs broker for current rates so your landed cost, not just the factory price, fits your margin.

Bespoke Jewelry: When You Want Something Truly One of a Kind

Personalized jewelry changes a detail on a set design. Bespoke jewelry starts from a blank page and is created once, for one client.

If you have a sketch, send it. If you only have an idea, like a ring that combines a family's birthstones or a pendant shaped like a place that matters to a customer, describe it and our designers will develop it into CAD drawings for your approval.

Bespoke pieces take longer and cost more per piece than personalized ones, but for engagement rings, heirloom pieces, and high-end client commissions, nothing else feels quite as special.

Personalized Jewelry Trends US Buyers Are Asking For

These are the requests we see most often from US clients right now:

  • Permanent jewelry: welded chain bracelets and anklets, usually in 14K gold-filled, solid gold, or sterling, with no clasp.

  • Carabiner charm holders: chunky clasps that let customers add and swap personalized charms.

  • Lab-grown diamond initials: real diamond sparkle at a price that fits gift budgets.

  • Birthstone family pieces: "mama" necklaces and bracelets with one stone per child.

  • Handwriting and memorial engraving: a loved one's signature or note engraved on a pendant or bar.

  • Mixed metals: yellow and white gold, or gold and silver, combined in one stack.

  • Men's personalized pieces: engraved signet rings, ID bracelets, and dog tags.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Maroth Jewels based in the USA?

We manufacture from India and supply personalized and private label jewelry to businesses across the United States, shipping directly to your US address.

What is the minimum order for personalized jewelry?

Our MOQ is 1. For personalized name pieces, each name counts as one unit within the same design, so an order of 50 name necklaces can include 50 different names.

Can you put my brand's logo on the jewelry?

Yes. We can laser-engrave your logo, cast it as a raised element, or add it to tags and clasps. Just send a high-resolution vector file such as AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF.

How long does a personalized order take?

Samples take 15 business days, and production usually takes 3-4 weeks depending on quantity and complexity. Shipping time to the US is additional.

What's the difference between personalized and bespoke jewelry?

Personalized jewelry adds a custom detail like a name or birthstone to an existing design. Bespoke jewelry is designed from scratch for one client.

Which metal is best for personalized jewelry?

For fine jewelry sold in the US, 14K gold is the most popular choice. For affordable gift lines, sterling silver or gold vermeil gives a real precious metal at a lower price. Plated pieces work best for trend-led, lower-price collections.

Will you sell my designs to other brands?

No. Designs you bring to us stay yours, and we're happy to sign an NDA before you share anything.
